RAND BELLAVIA

Rand Bellavia is more than one half (by weight) of the singing, songwriting, performing machine that is Ookla the Mok. He sings and plays guitar, trombone, and (when Adam isn't watching) keyboards.

Rand is the Director of the Montante Family Library at D'Youville College. He is also a Visiting Professor in the Masters of Library Science program at the University of Buffalo's School of Informatics and annually teaches a "poetry for physicists" style Poetry appreciation class at D'Youville. Rand has two Masters Degrees, one in Theological Studies and one in Library Science. Both his Masters Theses were about comic books.

Rand has a freakish ability to absorb and retain information. You know that thing you care the most about? You know, your thing? Rand knows more about that than you do. Rand knows all the things! He has a positively unsettling number of facts at his disposal. If you need to know how many home runs George Foster got in 1977 or who played drums for Quiet Riot, he's your man. He's like the Internet only he smells really nice.

Rand loves guilelessness, comic books, Asian cuisine, Sufi poetry, Oxford commas, and Erin. He hates hate, cell phones, eating soup with a teaspoon, and wearing pants.

ADAM ENGLISH

Adam English is the whirling electron to Rand's stable nucleus. Actually I guess Rand and Adam are the nucleus of the band, so that would make Adam the proton and Rand like, I dunno, a Quark or something.

Adam is a freelance caricature artist and comedy musician. He can draw a picture of your face that will make you cry, and then write a song about it that will make you laugh. He performs this service at parties for a reasonable hourly rate.

Adam is a vigilante cartoonist and part-time superhero whose winsome demeanor masks an inner darkness. His wit is irascible, his taste is impeccable, and his will is indomitable. His vengeance is terrible, and so is his Spanish. His ascendancy is perpetually imminent.

He is a lion among men, but a chicken among lions. His armies are vast, and his ambition far-reaching. His network of spies surrounds us as we speak.
